This is such a cute cartoon…the perfect example of art imitating life!

Our chocolate Lab Mr. Sammy used to do the same thisng when he was a puppy – he would bark at himself in the mirror and would step back and forth to see what “the other dog” would do. It’s one of our fondest memories of him (he passed over to Rainbow Bridge a year ago after 15 wonderful years ).

Our guy just saw himself in the side mirror on the car and went totally bonkers. Apparently, he thought this ‘other dog’ was moving in on his Toyota. And, boy, was he ticked that that other dog barked back! (Other than that, he’s really a pretty bright guy.)

That first look into the mirror and meeting the new friend, is one, of the many pleasures that I look forward to, having a young dog! no greater love than the love from a..

I absolutely love the reprise of “Wee Bit” (May 21, 2010 in the Archives; go to http://drawthedog.com/?p=1405 for another dog in the mirror escapade). You can read the backstory of that cartoon at http://hiddenmeadowinn.com/who-are-we/animals-at-the-inn/drawthedog-com-cartoonist-celebrates-innkeepers-dog-yoda/

Particularly like Bosco’s down-turned tail expressing his uncertainty about that other dog!

Oh, Bosco is wonderful! Look at his expression! What a beautiful dog. Thanks for this charming cartoon!

It was quite the morning in our household when we learned that Bosco was the Draw the Dog of the day! Lord knows he was spoiled enough before, now there will be no living with him! He is just the best puppy ever – as one person described him to me, “he’s just a big bucket of love”! And of course, like all Labs, he thinks everything with 2 or 4 legs was put on Earth just to play with him, which is why he was so perplexed with the mirror puppy!

Mirrors are miserable cheaters. They don’t smell right, they don’t sound right, and they won’t play, no matter how one poses or barks or tries to engage. Poor Bosco. It’s a tough lesson to learn!
